Raku Pottery
A 2 part Experience
Discover the fiery magic of Raku pottery!
Join us for this two-part workshop where you’ll create your own pottery from start to finish and experience the thrill of Raku firing — a dramatic process where glowing-hot pieces are pulled from the kiln and transformed in flames and smoke.
What You’ll Do
Session 1 – Create (2 hours, at Pearl & Fern Studio)
Learn to wheel-throw your pottery using Raku clay.
Explore forms that work beautifully with the Raku process (bowls, vases, sculptures).
Leave your piece to be bisque fired by our studio team.
Session 2 – Fire (2–3 hours, at Melissa’s Raku Garden Kiln)
Choose from a selection of 3 Raku glazes.
Glaze your piece.
Watch as your piece is fired in the outdoor Raku kiln, glowing red-hot.
Experience the magical moment as we remove your pottery from the kiln and place it in natural materials, igniting flames and smoke that create one-of-a-kind effects.
Take home your finished piece the same day!

Safety Guidelines for Raku Classes
Raku firing involves high temperatures and open flames, so safety is our top priority. To keep everyone safe:
Clothing: Please wear 100% cotton tops and jeans or other natural fibers. No synthetic fabrics (polyester, nylon, etc.) as they can melt and cause burns.
Footwear: Closed-toe shoes are required.
Hair & Accessories: Tie back long hair and avoid loose jewelry.
Following these guidelines ensures a fun and safe experience for everyone.
