Introduction to wheel throwing

Come Try Pottery at Pearl & Fern! Step into our amazing new pottery studio and experience the joy of creating with teacher Erin from Tiny Cat Pottery! This hands-on class on the wheel is perfect for beginners — no experience needed!

What's Included:

  1. All the clay you’ll need

  2. Pottery tools & apron

  3. 1 finished piece (your best!) glazed & fired in the colour of your choice

  4. Pick up your piece one week later

  5. Small Class Sizes – Only 7 Spots Available Per Session!

Ready to dive into the world of pottery? Our Wheel Throwing Level 1 class is the perfect starting point for anyone eager to learn the fundamentals of working on the potter’s wheel. Over five engaging weeks, you’ll be guided through everything a budding potter needs to build confidence, skill, and creativity at the wheel — no experience needed!

What you'll learn:

  • Week 1: Mastering the basics — wedging, centering, and pulling clay on the wheel

  • Week 2: The art of throwing bowls

  • Week 3: Trimming and carving your pieces to add detail and personality

  • Week 4: Crafting mugs, including handle-making and attachment

  • Week 5: Waxing and glazing all of your finished pieces

By the end of the course, you’ll take home at least one finished bowl and one cup — possibly more! (Up to two of each are included.)

What's included:
All clay, tools, glazes, firing, and expert instruction — you don’t need to bring a thing except short nails and your excitement to learn!

Ready to level up your pottery practice? Join us for a series of 3-hour advanced workshops designed for potters who already feel comfortable on the wheel and want to expand their skills and creative range.

Led by the incredibly talented Erin from Tiny Cat Pottery, each session dives deep into a specific form or technique, giving you the chance to learn, explore, and refine your craft in a supportive and inspiring environment.

Upcoming Workshops Include:

  • Vase Making – Explore taller forms, collaring, and decorative shaping

  • Mishima – Master this beautiful inlay technique to elevate your surface design

  • Lidded Vessels – Learn the art of throwing and fitting lids with precision and style

What’s included:
All clay, tools, and materials are provided. Your piece will be fired and glazed for you — just bring your creativity and passion for pottery!

Private Adult Workshops & Celebrations

Perfect for birthdays, team-building, or simply a creative night out with friends.

  • Cost: $120 per person

  • Duration: 3 hours

  • Includes:

    • Clay, glaze, and firing of up to 2 pieces

    • All tools and materials provided

    • Guidance and support throughout the session

  • Group Size: Minimum 4 people

No experience necessary! We recommend hand-building for beginners or those new to pottery. Introductory wheel use is also available and guided with care.

Children’s Parties & Youth Workshops

Celebrate creativity with a fun, hands-on pottery experience that kids will love!

  • Cost: $60 for the first 4 children, $50 for each additional child

  • Duration: 2 hours

  • Includes:

    • Clay, glaze, and firing of 1 piece

    • All materials and tools

    • Step-by-step instruction in a friendly and accessible format

  • Food can be ordered through us for an additional charge

    • You can bring your own cake

  • Group Size: Minimum 4 participants, maximum 18 participants

Our children’s sessions are playful, relaxed, and designed to spark imagination while learning the basics of clay art.

PRIVATE POTTERY LESSONS
